Who Are The New Ruling Body In Iran?

Iran’s Temporary Council Assumes Leadership After Khamenei’s Death—What Comes Next?

After the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in U.S. and Israeli airstrikes in Tehran, a temporary council has taken over the leadership of the nation. 1.

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said March 1 that the new leadership council “has begun its work.”

U.S. President Donald Trump has called on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime, explicitly tying U.S. interests in the region to regime change and preventing a nuclear-armed Iran.

The commission taking over control of the nation in the midst of its war against two global superpowers is a short-term stopgap. Ultimately, a new leader will be selected by clerics within the state’s theocratic constitution.

Here’s what to know.

Temporary Leadership Council

Under the process outlined in the nation’s constitution, Iran on Sunday organized a council to assume leadership of the country and carry out the roles previously filled by Khamenei.

Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, announced the plans to form the council.

Members of the council include Pezeshkian and the head of the nation’s judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei. The two will step in and “temporarily assume all the duties of leadership.”

Pezeshkian has sought reform during his tenure, though the establishment figure was historically on good terms with Khamenei and the regime. Mohseni-Ejei, meanwhile, is known to be a hardliner on Islamist revolutionary doctrines.

Ayatollah Ali Reza Arafi was selected as a third member of the leadership council. The 66-year-old cleric was picked by Khamenei to serve on the Guardian Council, which helps lead Iran, in 2019.

Ali Larijani,   Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran           Khamenei’s 56-year-old son, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Clerics Select New Ayatollah

Under the Iranian constitution, a selected slate of the nation’s clerics “must, as soon as possible,” select a new ayatollah to lead the nation.

The 88-member panel delegated the responsibility is known as the Assembly of Experts, and consists entirely of Shiite Muslim clerical leaders.

These figures are popularly elected every eight years, though their candidacy must be approved in advance by the Guardian Council. Around half of the council’s members are chosen by the ayatollah, ensuring the regime’s broad control over the process.

To win an election to the office, a candidate must obtain two-thirds of the vote in a secret ballot.

One of the considered contenders for the top job is Khamenei’s 56-year-old son, Mojtaba Khamenei.

High Stakes

The individual selected for the post through the process will have the ultimate say over all matters of governance in the Persian state, giving the figure extreme power over the complicated power-sharing arrangement at the heart of the Shiite Islamic theocracy.

The ayatollah also serves as the chief commander of the nation’s military and the paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In 2019, the U.S. designated the latter group—which had been empowered by Khamenei during his reign—as a terror organization.

The process to select a new leader has only been used by the Persian state once before, in the June 4, 1989, election of Khamenei to the post.

Khamenei’s election followed the death the same year of Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Because of his leading role in the creation of the Islamic Revolutionary state, Khomeini was not elected through the process.

Possible Regime Change

Khamenei’s long 37-year tenure as leader of the nation means that the process hasn’t been used since his election.

This time, it would come amid the backdrop of a major bombing campaign by the United States and Israel, who have openly called on the Iranian people to overthrow the regime.

Trump said Khamenei’s death was “the greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their country.” He urged Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and policy to work with the people to rebuild the nation.

Iranian leaders seemed determined to maintain the current system of government, with the president vowing revenge and the vice president ordering officials to ensure administrative functions were uninterrupted. Still, the regime’s future seemed unclear, particularly as U.S. and Israeli forces target high-ranking officials.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a post in the Persian language on X that Israel plans to “strike thousands of targets of the terrorist regime … in the coming days.”

Some Insight Into Liberal Thinking. What Was She Thinking?

Video Goes Viral: American Who Moved to Canada Over Trump Now Struggling With Cost of Living - Now She's Reduced to Begging Because She Had No Idea How Bad It Would Be There 1.

A video circulating on social media shows an American who moved to Canada because of opposition to President Donald Trump now describing the financial difficulties she’s facing there.

The woman, who previously lived in Los Angeles, posted a TikTok on Jan. 31 explaining that she and her partner relocated to Vancouver but are running out of money after less than two months.

In the video, she explained that Americans visiting Canada can stay for up to six months on a visitor visa but are not allowed to work during that time.

“My partner and I are here on a visitor visa, which is a six-month possible stay for Americans. But while you’re here on a visitor visa, you can’t work,” she said, adding that they are currently living off the savings they brought with them when they left the United States.

She also said the cost of living in Vancouver has been higher than expected, particularly when it comes to housing.

Here comes the rude awakening!

“The housing crisis here is worse than in the United States,” she said, noting that she had lived in Los Angeles for six years but had not encountered rent prices as high as what she’s seeing in Vancouver.

The woman added that many everyday expenses are more expensive than she anticipated and that, as non-citizens, they cannot access most of the resources available to Canadians.

“That’s understandable — I’m not a citizen of the country — but it’s making the financial situation difficult because we can’t work,” she explained.

In the video, she asked if anyone might know of a one- or two-bedroom apartment where she, her partner, and their pets could stay at a reduced cost or temporarily.

“If we can’t find housing, we may have to leave,” she said. “And we’re not sure where we would go.”

The video later spread widely on X, sparking debate and commentary about the challenges of relocating to another country without work authorization, as well as the rising cost of living in major cities like Vancouver.

Just When You Think You've Heard It All, This Happens.

Some of us have a low opinion of our education system.  I have become aware of something going on at UC Berkley that is just beyond comprehension.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to receive a quality education in America. I didn't need to attend an Ivy League University, although I spent two years at UCLA.

Back in the "good old days," the schools taught reading, writing, math, history, civics, and all the rest of the subjects that would create a well-rounded young man or woman capable of entering the work world and being prepared for their respective vocations. I am not going to blame the instructor for the dereliction of duty in this article. The fault lies with the institution that hired her to indoctrinate the students with nonsense that will do the students zero good in doing their job if they can apply and be accepted to work.

Beginning in 2016, Professor Juana María Rodríguez has assigned her students to create and edit Wikipedia articles about LGBTQ+ people, with a particular focus on queer and transgender people of color.

Insanity: Professor Gets Rid of Finals, Assigns Editing Of “LGBTQ+” Wikipedia Pages Instead

In the latest lunacy on campus, according to Campus Reform, “A professor at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) has assigned students an alternative to traditional finals—creating and editing Wikipedia pages about ‘queer and trans people of color.”

Excellence and quality education continue to be replaced by Woke indoctrination at Berkeley.

The ‘Ethnic Studies’ professor had students defend and expand on Wikipedia articles related to ‘LGBTQ’ history and transgenderism, according to the report.

Somehow, this insanity is considered worth the price of tuition at Berkeley despite the fact that it does nothing to prepare students for real life.

According to The Campus Reform report, “The project is facilitated through Wiki Education, an organization that partners with college faculty to incorporate Wikipedia editing into coursework.”

This should never have been a thing, and it is hardly educational to begin with. The fact that the course is named, absurdly, Queer of Color, as if that is part of education, is even worse.

Among the pages they were assigned were such gems as “Queer Vampires,” “LGBTQ themes in horror fiction,” and more.

Another article was about “Lesbian bars,” as absurd as that sounds.

“Classes have made more than 300,000 edits and added 3,000 citations to Wikipedia articles, collectively amassing nearly 100 million views.”

The professor who assigned this framed the assignment as opposing the Trump administration.

“Right now, the Trump administration is trying to erase the very existence of transgender people, so having information about those histories, as well as present challenges facing queer and trans communities, is particularly urgent,” is what the professor in question told The Daily Californian.

This activist/professor unsurprisingly lists “transgender studies,” “queer activism in the Americas,” and “sex work” as her areas of expertise. In other words, she should not be in education.

These types of courses are pure leftist indoctrination and do not qualify as educational or helpful for real life.
